A Fairy tale life

Yesterday (25th May) my daughter turned 3. Last Wednesday (20th May) she celebrated her birthday with her cousins. On Friday (22nd May) it was her star birthday and she celebrated it with her Athai, Mama and thambi. And yesterday she cut the cake surrounded by her Patti, Chitti, Chitappa, Periyamma, Akkas and Thambis.

What was amazing about the whole deal was, all the above mentioned relatives were people she had adopted in her life.

When I had first decided to adopt I was scared of acceptance. I was worried if she would get the love and family that all children deserved. While I was pleasantly surprised that there was no objection from my family I was even more astonished at the love that was showered on her by everyone who knew her.

The society at large has been very accepting of my daughter, not just on a decency level but true acceptance. Every house had opened its doors and everyone inside had opened their hearts to her. Growing up in our society I was ready to go to war if anyone ostracized my daughter. I was ready to forego all relationships who treated my daughter differently. But that was NEVER the case. Our society has matured and the people have grown beyond petty differences.

It is our fearful minds that sees problems were there are NONE. Any prospective parents who wants to adopt and are worried about the acceptance of the child, trust me the world has grown beyond our imaginations. It is no more a Global Village, It is a Global Family.

I humbly bow to all the amazing people who have made not just my little ones birthday but every day of our lives a wondrous fairy tale to live it.
